LATEST LIVERPOOL TRANSFER NEWS AND FLORIAN WIRTZ CONTINUES TO BE LINKED WITH A MOVE TO ANFIELD AFTER THE REDS CONFIRMED THE SIGNING OF JEREMIE FRIMPONG 10:48, 02 Jun 2025 Liverpool will have
several important decisions to make during the summer transfer window. The majority of these will involve potential signings and outgoings, but they are not the only conversations that will
be had before the start of next season. One new signing has already been confirmed by the Reds, with Jeremie Frimpong arriving on a permanent deal from Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool activated
the £29.5million release clause in the defender's contract to kickstart their summer transfer business. This summer will also see Liverpool welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield from
Valencia. The Georgia international's arrival will be followed by the expected exit of Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Reds agreeing an £18million deal with Brentford. READ MORE:

Arne Slot transfer claim The next signing for Liverpool could see them bring Florian Wirtz to Merseyside. The Reds remain in talks with Leverkusen, with the ECHO recently reporting that a
£109million bid had been submitted to sign the Germany international. If Liverpool can agree a deal to sign Wirtz then it would likely be a club-record signing for the Reds. It would also
see some conversations and decisions needing to be made at Anfield this summer. Article continues below Liverpool confirmed when they signed Frimpong that the 24-year-old had yet to be given
a squad number, which will be assigned later in the summer. Wirtz would also need to be given a squad number if he was to complete a move to Merseyside. One number which is currently
available to new signings, and may be an option for both Frimpong and Wirtz, is the No.23. This was last worn by Luis Diaz before he switched to No.7 in the summer of 2023. The No.23 is also
a notable number in Liverpool's history, having been worn by club legend Jamie Carragher during his career at Anfield. Fellow legend Robbie Fowler also wore the number from 1993-96
before he switched to No.9. Article continues below It must be said that there is still the matter of Liverpool needing to agree a deal with Leverkusen before talk of a squad number for
Wirtz can be held. If that was to happen, though, both Wirtz and Frimpong - who are good friends from their time with the Bundesliga club - may need to have a conversation about who could
get the iconic number in Anfield folklore.
