THE MONEY-SAVING EXPERT REVEALED THAT THERE'S ONE THING PEOPLE HEADING TO SPAIN THIS SUMMER SHOULDN'T DO 16:20, 21 May 2025 Martin Lewis has told holiday-goers to avoid buying
items from Zara, Pull & Bear, and Massimo Dutti if they are going to Spain this summer. In a new blog post, Martin said: “If you're one of the millions planning a trip to Spain at
some point this summer, stop shopping at Zara right now.” Zara sells items of clothing in Spain, its native country, for cheaper prices than in the UK, according to Martin. That means it is
best to wait until you get to Spain if you’re planning on buying something from the high street chain. Martin said it is also cheaper in other countries where you pay in euros, too, such as
France, Greece, and Italy. He wrote: “The price difference is enormous. The pound price is often higher than the euro price before you even convert the currency (which further cheapens the
euro price).” Martin pointed out the difference in price between the same blazer on the Spanish website versus the UK one. A textured linen suit blazer was €99.95 euros on the Spanish
website, but in the UK, the same item costs £119. Article continues below Converting the euros price shows that the jacket costs £84, which means that the Spanish site is selling it for £35
cheaper than the UK. The blog post also pointed out that a women’s long ruffled dress costs £99.99 on the UK website and €99.95 on the Spanish one, which is £84.40 in pounds. Meanwhile, a
leather tote bag was selling for £159 on the UK website, and €149 on the Spanish one, which is £125.80. Martin explained that this doesn’t just apply to Zara - there are similar pricing
structures for brands in the same group, like Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti. However, Lewis suggests against going on holiday solely to shop in these stores and to pause to “think of the
environmental impact of flying, and of overbuying fast fashion”. He said his advice is more for people going anyway. The expert said: “I wouldn't suggest you do a trip just for this,
more that if you're going anyway and need to buy, take advantage.” Article continues below Zara is owned by Inditex, the world’s biggest fashion retailer. Just over half its clothes are
made in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Turkey, according to a recent BBC interview with the retailer’s CEO, Oscar Garcia Maceiras. Mr Maceiras, when asked about the rise of ultra-cheap
fast-fashion brands like Shein and Temu, said: "Of course, we are looking at providing our customers our products at an affordable price. “But for us, it's critical to provide
customers fashion that should be inspirational, with quality, creativity and sustainable."
