supervision. Details of the death have now been posted on its website. Gorst died at Strangeways on April 25, 2023, but it's only just been published by the PPO. He was 35. The

ombudsman said the full investigation report was 'pending' the outcome of an inquest into Gorst's death. No date for an inquest hearing has been set. Article continues below

The _Manchester Evening News_ reported in September, 2021, how Gorst threatened a terrified off-licence owner with a knife after vaulting over her counter and demanding cash. He was

sentenced to an extra four-and-a-half years in jail. Gorst was already serving a 13-year sentence for attempted murder imposed in 2013, but had been out on licence since January 27, 2020. He

appeared at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, for sentencing for the knifepoint raid at the California Wine store on North Road, Clayton, north Manchester, just yards from his then home

on the same street, on June 13, 2021. _JOIN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS WHATSAPP GROUP HERE_ Gorst had admitted charges of robbery and threatening another person with a bladed article,

namely a knife. He was given a custodial sentence of four-and-a-half years and an extended licence period of two-and-a-half years, making a total of seven years, 'for the protection of

the public' said a judge who sentenced him. A Prison Service spokesperson said: "Lee Gorst died at HMP Manchester on April 25th 2023. As with all deaths in custody, the Prison and
