scene on Thursday(Image: Submitted) A biker injured in a horror crash which closed the M62 for ten hours has died. A total of eight-vehicles were involved in the collision which took place


on the eastbound stretch of the motorway just before the junction 23 exit slip road near Huddersfield.


Emergency services raced to the scene at around 5.40pm last Thursday (May 29).


‌ A 51-year-old motorbike rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries.


‌ He died in hospital over the weekend, West Yorkshire Police (WYP) have confirmed. His family have been informed and they are receiving specialist support.


The motorway remained closed for ten hours overnight following the crash.


A 53-year-old man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He is currently on bail.


Article continues below The force's Major Collision Enquiry Team are now investigating and have issued a renewed appeal for information, Yorkshire Live reports.


They are looking to hear from any witnesses, and they are asking drivers to check their dashcams for footage.


A WYP statement said: "Given this collision happened on the motorway network, there is potential for witnesses to not be local to the West Yorkshire area and members of the public can assist


by sharing this appeal on social media.


‌ "The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway, just before the Junction 23 exit slip road at around 5.41pm and involved eight vehicles.


"Police are keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are asking motorists to check their dash cams to see if they have captured any footage prior to, during or after the


incident."
