"funniest date movie of 2017" is now available for streaming.


Critics have lavished praise on the film, describing it as "edgy and hilarious" and "magnificent", indicating that it's just as enjoyable for solo viewers.


‌ The Big Sick tells the story of Kumail, an Uber driver with dreams of stand-up comedy stardom, who falls for Emily, a grad student in Chicago.


‌ Complications arise when Emily falls seriously ill and is put into a medically induced coma, leaving Kumail to navigate her care, charm her sceptical parents, and pursue his comedic


ambitions, all while juggling the expectations of his traditional Pakistani family.


Despite the serious undertones, the film masterfully balances humour with its more sombre themes, reports the Mirror US.


Kumail Nanjiani not only leads the cast but also co-wrote the script with his wife, Emily V. Gordon, portrayed by Zoe Kazan.
