HERE'S THE AREAS AFFECTED BY THE MET OFFICE POLLEN WARNINGS THIS WEEK 11:19, 30 May 2025 One area of the UK has been issued with a red "very high" alert on Friday, along with

several amber "high" alerts in other areas of the country. London and south east England has been issued with a red pollen warning by the Met Office on Friday, May 30, and

Saturday, May 31, set to impact hay fever sufferers. During the spring and summer months, the Met Office issues a pollen forecast to warn hay fever sufferers of when they can expect the

worst symptoms. They issue alerts of varying severities from low (green), medium (yellow), high (amber), and very high (red). Hay fever affects more than 10 million people in the UK and is

caused by an allergy to pollen which can cause congestion, sneezing, itchy eyes and sometimes even headaches and hives. As well as the highest red alert in London and the south east, there

are four areas with an amber "high" alert including south west England, West Midlands, East Midlands and the east of England. Those four alerts remain in place on Saturday, May 31,

with an additional yellow "medium" pollen warning in North West England which includes Greater Manchester. Article continues below By Sunday, June 1, an additional

"medium" warning comes into effect in Wales, and five "high" warnings remain in place in London and the south east, south west England, West Midlands, East Midlands and

the east of England. On Monday, June 2, the same six warnings remain in place plus a "high" warning in North West England and a "medium" warning in Yorkshire and the

Humber. It comes as the UK is set for a few days of sunshine on Friday and Saturday after a week of rain, cloud and cooler conditions. The Met Office explained that the dry spell was caused

by a prolonged area of high pressure which brought sunshine, warm weather and blue skies. But a switch took place last Friday, May 23, and the area of high pressure has now been replaced by

low pressure which causes cloudy, cooler and wetter conditions. The Met Office forecast that Saturday will be "very warm" in parts of the UK, reaching 25C in London and the

surrounding areas in the afternoon. Many areas along the east of the UK will reach higher than average temperatures, but the west side of the UK will be affected by Atlantic winds, bringing

down the temperature. MET OFFICE POLLEN WARNINGS FRIDAY, MAY 30 Very high * London and south east England High * South west England * West Midlands * East Midlands * East of England
