MANCHESTER UNITED EXITED THE EUROPA LEAGUE AT THE SEMI-FINALS STAGE AFTER LOSING 5-2 ON AGGREGATE TO LA LIGA SIDE SEVILLA. 07:30, 21 Apr 2023 Manchester United crashed out of the Europa
League after losing 5-2 on aggregate to La Liga side Sevilla, with the Reds falling to a 3-0 defeat in the second leg on Thursday night. Erik ten Hag's men arrived at the Ramon
Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium having drawn 2-2 in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at Old Trafford last week. The Reds had a 2-0 lead and were cruising in the encounter, but own goals
Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire kept the Spanish side in the tie. Maguire was at fault for Sevilla's opening goal in the second leg on Thursday, with the England international losing
the ball on the edge of his own penalty area. Things went from bad to worse for the Reds as the home side scored two more goals to secure a 3-0 victory on the night in Seville. ALSO READ:
SEVILLA VS MANCHESTER UNITED RECAP Here are three things fans may have missed during United's disappointing defeat at Sevilla: EMBRACE WITH TELLES Alex Telles, who is spending the
season on loan at Sevilla from United, received a warm embrace from Ten Hag prior to kick-off on Thursday night. United midfielder Fred - who came on in the second half of the clash - also
stopped to speak to his compatriot, who started the game on the bench. The Brazilian full-back has made 50 appearances for the Reds, but it appears likely that he will leave Old Trafford in
the summer transfer window. He has made 20 appearances for Sevilla in La Liga this season, but only 10 of those have come as a starter. TEN HAG REACTION TO SEVILLA OPENER Ten Hag,
understandably, had a face like thunder after Sevilla took the lead in the clash. The Reds did not start the game well and went behind after Maguire was dispossessed on the edge of his own
penalty area. The England international received the ball from David de Gea, and fans were split on who exactly was to blame. The United goalkeeper should have played it wide, but Maguire -
more importantly - should not have been demanding the ball with three Sevilla players around him. BT Sport co-commentator Robbie Savage pointed the finger at De Gea, but replays of the goal
showed that the Reds centre-back was calling for the pass. When the cameras panned to Ten Hag on the touchline, it was clear that the Dutchman was frustrated with the manner in which his
side went behind. ANTONY SHOUTS AT WEGHORST With Anthony Martial being forced off with an injury, Dutch striker Wout Weghorst came on to replace him. It was clear that the Frenchman would
not be able to continue, but for some reason, he was stood gingerly in the penalty area preparing to attack a Reds corner. Given that Weghorst is 6 ft 6 in, it made sense for him to be on
the pitch for the delivery of the set-piece. It took a while, but the Burnley loanee eventually made his way onto the pitch to replace the injured Martial. However, Antony was not pleased
with the speed he was moving at and began to have a go at his teammate. Article continues below The Brazilian winger, who was one of United's better players on the night, wanted
Weghorst to sprint onto the pitch and into the penalty area. READ NEXT:
