RAVEL MORRISON RECOUNTED HIS VERSION OF EVENTS OF WHEN HIS MOBILE WAS SMASHED TO BITS BY A RAGING WAYNE ROONEY, WHO WRONGLY BELIEVED THE YOUNGSTER HAD TAKEN HIS PHONE OFF CHARGE 14:23, 20

May 2025 Gary Neville stepped in to buy Ravel Morrison a new phone after Wayne Rooney had destroyed the original during their time at Manchester United. The incident occurred when Rooney

mistakenly believed Morrison, then an up-and-coming talent, had unplugged his phone to charge his own. The misunderstanding led to Rooney, who had been with Neville, hurling the mobile down

a corridor while Morrison was playing for the under-18s. Although Rooney has admitted to the act, it was Neville who stumped up for a new one. Now playing for UAE club Precision, Morrison,

32, recounted the tale on the Undr The Cosh podcast. He explained: "I gave Rio [Ferdinand] my phone to put on charge. And they thought I went in the changing room, took Wazza's off

charge and just put mine on. "I've come in and the phone's down the corridor! But I gave it Rio to put on charge. Then Gary Neville ended up getting me a new phone because he

thought it was me who went in there and took it off, which is kind of cheeky - I understand that - but it wasn't me." Rooney addressed the episode on United's official

podcast in 2020, saying: "I remember I smashed his phone up at one point. He came into the first-team dressing room when he was in the reserves and my phone was on charge. "He took

it off and put his on. I remember it was one of the old Blackberries which has the email on the front. I thought it was one of the other lads so, when I saw it was one of the reserves, I

just smashed the phone up." After Rooney shared his recollection of the incident, Morrison responded on X (formerly Twitter): "I gave him (Ferdinand) my phone... 90 minutes

later... Phone smashed to tiny pieces [laughing face emoji]." Morrison continued with a playful jab: "@WayneRooney it's Rio's fault [laughing face]." He wrapped up

his message by hinting at another possible culprit: "I'm sure @GNev2 played some part [staring eyes emoji]." In his interview with Undr The Cosh, Morrison praised Neville for

the guidance he offered during a nomadic career that never lived up to its early promise. He added: "I like him, I think he's a character. "I see him a lot in Manchester when

I'm back home. He's a proper good guy, I've got a lot of time for him. He's done a lot, [given advice], him and Rio." Morrison left United for West Ham in 2012

before stints with numerous clubs, including Lazio, Atlas in Mexico, Derby County and DC United, playing under Rooney at both Derby and DC. Article continues below GET UNITED TRANSFER NEWS
