Manchester City have only just called time on their campaign but already attention is turning to a new one. The Blues finished the Premier League season last weekend with a 2-0 win at
Fulham, ensuring a third place finish and Champions League football for next term. That was the bare minimum return from a forgettable City campaign that saw Pep Guardiola's side beaten
in the FA Cup final by Crystal Palace and make early exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup. Changes will be made in the summer with Guardiola seeking new recruits while at the
same time trimming his squad to avoid leaving senior stars out in the cold. That will mean a busy summer at the Etihad with chairman Khaldoon Al Murbarak saying he wants the bulk of business
done before the Club World Cup kicks off in a couple of weeks. With that in mind, we take a look at how City's squad looks and what might change during the window in our audit of the
player inventory. GOALKEEPERS A position where City are certainly well stocked. For now, Stefan Ortega penned a new deal earlier this summer and will seek the No.1 spot after impressing when
called upon last season as his value rose. It could be all change, it could be status quo. As was the case a year ago a lot will depend on Ederson. He has cemented his place as first choice
despite Stefan Ortega signing a new contract last summer. But the Brazilian is into the last 12 months of his own deal and if City are to cash in on the keeper then now is the time to do
it. Should a sale be sanctioned, a replacement will arrive with Diogo Costa at Porto a target. Ortega could depart either way amid interest from the Bundesliga while Scott Carson's
contract is up this summer. DEFENDERS City were missing plenty of them during this season and will hope for better fitness records for John Stones and Nathan Ake moving forward. Both could
be high profile departures if Guardiola deems them too injury-hit to be part of a slimline squad. Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol are mainstays at the back while January arrivals Khusanov and
Vitor Reis will offer competition. Manuel Akanji provides versatile cover while Rico Lewis will hope for more regular involvement. But at least one full back will be signed, with Wolves
Rayan Ait Nouri linked and Andrea Cambiaso at Juventus a long-term target. Kyle Walker will surely go even if AC Milan don't take up their option on the England international. Mathues
Nunes' future is up in the air after a campaign out of position at right back while Nico O'Reilly could move into his natural midfield position after filling in on the left of
defence. Kaden Braithwaite and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey have both had senior involvement this term and are best placed of the academy options. CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS Rodri is back and will be the
brick around which City will build. The Ballon D'or winner was sorely missed in the 2024-25 campaign and his return is a significant boost even if it might take him a while to return to
the high standards he set prior to his injury. He could have a new partner in Nico Gonzalez following his January arrival from Porto while Matteo Kovacic has proved himself an able squad
option. Kevin De Bruyne is departing, so Phil Foden will hope to bounce back from a dismal season and earn himself a regular berth in the number 10 role which could also interest Omar
Marmoush. Claudio Echeverri is a wildcard option having made a couple of cameo appearances although the teenager could well depart on loan. City will add in the engine room with AC Milan
star Tijjani Reijnders an active target for the number eight position. He will cost around £55million but has impressed in Serie A. The Blues are also keen on Nottingham Forest's Morgan
Gibbs-White who can play across several positions. Bernardo Silva is again being linked with an exit but could well remain and offer some continuity while Ilkay Gundogan has triggered a
12-month contract extension yet could still be sold depending on arrivals. It's impossible to see a future for Nunes in midfield at the Etihad while City will look to move Kalvin
Phillips on as he returns from a loan spell at Ipswich Town. James McAtee is seemingly set for the exit door after being left out by Guardiola in the closing weeks of the campaign.
O'Reilly will hope for midfield minutes next term. WINGERS Jack Grealish is the main talking point with his future surely now away from the Etihad. Where that might be remains
anyone's guess with his salary a stumbling block and his value significantly lower than the £100m City paid for him. The England international has slipped down the pecking order and is
very much behind Jeremy Doku and Savinho while Marmoush has also seen more minutes on the left. Foden, too, will be part of that conversation and Bernardo can fill in. Oscar Bobb is
something of a forgotten man but last summer he was the star of City's tour of America and could make a significant breakthrough this time around while City are monitoring Lyon star
Rayan Cherki. STRIKERS Erling Haaland signed a mammoth contract extension last season and will lead the line. Omar Marmoush showed what he can offer since his January arrival and can provide
support through the middle and an option off the left or from the number 10 position. Divin Mubama has scored plenty of goals at academy level and may be given a chance to impress in the
Club World Cup amid reported transfer interest.
