Liverpool have given Manchester United the Marcus Rashford transfer boost they neededBarcelona have expressed interest in signing Liverpool ace Luis Diaz and Man United winger Marcus
Rashford - but their hopes of landing the former are fadingCommentsSportGeorge Smith Senior Football Writer13:30, 04 Jun 2025Barcelona have expressed interest in signing Marcus
Rashford.(Image: Stephen White - CameraSport via Getty Images.) Liverpool have no plans to sell winger Luis Diaz this summer amid Barcelona's mounting interest in the Colombian
international.
That is according to our sister title, the Liverpool Echo, who have reported that Liverpool officials are 'baffled' by the ongoing speculation concerning his future.
Barcelona sporting director Deco recently confirmed the La Liga champions' interest in Diaz and Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford. The latter is available to leave United this
summer for a fee of £40million.
United have no plans to reintegrate Rashford back into the first-team squad at Old Trafford after spending the second half of this season on loan at Aston Villa. The club anticipates he
will move abroad.
Barcelona have long since appealed to Rashford, 27, and the Spanish outfit is keen on the possibility of signing him this summer.
"We like Luis, and we like Rashford, but we can't talk about players who are under contract," Deco told RAC1 last month. "For me, it's much more important to improve what we have at home."
Article continues below Amid Liverpool's bemusement that Diaz could be available to Barcelona and other suitors this summer, it means the five-time Champions League winners could now
prioritise a swoop for Rashford in their quest to strengthen their attacking options.
As already documented, United want to sell Rashford in this summer's window and it is understood he is valued at £40m.
He was banished from the first-team squad by head coach Ruben Amorim last December and his stint at Villa yielded just four goals in 17 appearances.
Rashford wants to continue playing in the Champions League after four appearances in the competition in the second half of this season at Villa. Barcelona will have ambitions of winning
the competition next term after reaching the semi-finals this season.
Diaz, meanwhile, played a prominent role in helping Liverpool win the Premier League title this season, scoring 13 goals and registering seven assists.
