MANCHESTER CITY TRANSFER LATEST AS BLUES SEEK TO ADD TO SQUAD AHEAD OF CLUB WORLD CUP 06:00, 30 May 2025 Manchester City hope to complete the bulk of their transfer business before the Club

World Cup as they step up recruitment plans. The Blues are planning to add several players to their ranks this summer after a disappointing campaign which yielded only the Community Shield

in terms of silverware. A disappointing Premier League campaign ended with a third place finish achieved on the final day while City were beaten in the FA Cup final by Crystal Palace having

made early exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup. Pep Guardiola, who signed a new two-year-deal last year, will lead a rebuild with several signings targeted while a host of

players could depart with City aiming to operate with a smaller squad than the one they finished this campaign with. City have money to spend and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is hopeful of

signings being secured in the coming weeks. "We have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two

option," he said, speaking to club media. "And we'll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift. And our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad

for the Club World Cup.” The first arrival could be AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. The Netherlands international has impressed in Italy this season despite Milan struggling to an

eighth place finish. He was named Serie A midfielder of the year and City are keen to bring him to the Etihad. Any deal would cost around £55million and City are hoping to move quickly to

tie up a move. Reijnders would give City something different. He is a midfield eight capable of sitting but more effective as a ranging central player with the freedom to break forward.

He's added goals to his game in recent months and finished with 15 league strikes in 2024-25. The 26-year-old is a creative force - able to spot a pass with devastating accuracy while

also possessing dribbling skills to beat opponents. He scored 18 goals for club and country this season and is combative enough to cope with the Premier League. It's not difficult to

envisage him alongside Rodri in a new-look City midfield. His scoring record this season is a result of a conscious decision to improve that facet of his game. “Every player wants to score

and provide assists to his teammates. In the past I was closer to scoring, but I wasn’t as concrete as I am now," he said last month. “In the past few months I’ve worked a lot, I’ve

spoken with friends and family, especially with my father Martin and my brother Eliano, and they’ve helped me understand how to help the team with my plays.” His dad Martin was a former

professional footballer in the Netherlands while Eliano plays for Reijnders former club PEC Zwolle as well as the Indonesia national side, the birth place of mum. City also hold a transfer

interest in Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White as they seek to strengthen in midfield with Kevin De Bruyne leaving the club after a glittering decade at the Eithad. --- _Here at
