After Manchester United secured the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha over the weekend, attention has quickly turned towards their next major priority in the summer transfer window: The
future of Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes was United's Player of the Season for a second consecutive campaign and his 19 goals and 20 assists in all competitions ensured an already dismal
campaign didn't stretch further into the realms of embarrassment. Amorim is keen to build his team around Fernandes and replacing his influence, as well as his goal contributions, would
be hugely difficult for any side but it is a genuine possibility United may have to confront. We reported last week that United are willing to listen to offers for every player this summer
and we also revealed that Fernandes is giving serious consideration over whether to leave the club this summer. That is because Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are preparing to lodge an offer
to bring the 30-year-old to the Al-Hilal Stadium. Fernandes's agent, Miguel Pinho, has held discussions with Al-Hilal about a mooted £100million transfer and United have refused to
rule out his possible sale. They are keen to secure his signature before the start of the Club World Cup later this month and the situation could move quickly as a result. If he does make
the move to Saudi Arabia, it will see him link up with his international team-mates Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves. Ironically, United tried to sign Neves to play alongside Fernandes in their
midfield under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag while the Portugal international was at Wolves. A move never materialised, though, and he ended up making the £47million move to
Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 and he won the Saudi Pro League and King's Cup in his first season at the club. And speaking on international duty this week he has tried to convince
Fernandes to join him in Riyadh. "I recommend all the players in the national team, of course," he said. "Portugal has produced a lot of talent and continues to do so. We are
a lucky country in that respect. We are also very hard-working. A very small country but one that has produced excellent players. I would like to have any player from the national team in my
team." United once dreamed of Neves and Fernandes playing alongside each other. It would be a nightmare situation if that dream finally came true.
