Most of the S&P 500’s sectors were trading in the red on Friday, with technology seeing the biggest drop after the U.S. stock market’s losses deepened in early afternoon trading.
Information technology was down 1.5%, according to FactSet data, at last check. Of the S&P 500’s 11 sectors, only utilities and consumer staples – traditionally defensive areas of the
stock market – were trading solidly in positive territory on Friday afternoon. The U.S. stock market’s decline on Friday accelerated early afternoon, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite
hitting a session low shortly before 1 p.m. Eastern time.
