Reelection rates of incumbents in the US house of representatives has NEVER dipped below 80 percent since the 1960’s, and yet congress seems to constantly one of the most disliked groups in
the US. https://www.opensecrets.org/overview/reelect.php
Why does that make any sense at all? It is because we have such a difficult time recognizing the flaws in those of our own “tribe”, It seems everyone hates congress, and everyone also thinks
that their congressman is great and is the guy to tackle the job. As we get caught up in our tribal battles we fail to realize that every one of our tribes forms part of an even great
tribe- a tribe that we all belong to. Republicans and democrats are all Americans. Alabama and Auburn foot ball fans are all college football fans. Russians and Australians and Lithuanians
are all Humans. Why then do Republicans ans Lithuanians and Alabama football fans think that it is ok to violate their own codes of ethics in order to protect the tribe, when those that they
ridicule and slander are actually part of the same tribe (given the proper perspective). If you zoom out big enough, we are all members of the human family, and its about time we start
recognizing that biggest and most important tribal identity above all other others. I truly believe that the things that unite us will always be greater than the things that can divide us. I
guess we just need to start acting like it.
