CONTROVERSIAL STAND-UP STAR, SARAH SILVERMAN, WAS ALWAYS TOLD HER BABY BROTHER, JEFFERY, HAD SUFFOCATED AGED THREE MONTHS, BUT NOW SHE SAYS SHE KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED 09:34, 20 May 2025
Stand-up comedian Sarah Silverman has claimed her grandfather killed her baby brother in a shocking family secret. The controversial comic, 54, who first released an autobiography, The
Bedwetter, in 2010, which she adapted into an off-Broadway musical in 2022, says she was always told three-month old Jeffery, who died before Sarah was born, had suffocated. However, in a
startling revelation she now claims her father, Donald, told her his dad had killed the baby after shaking him. Opening up about the tragedy in an new interview, Sarah says: "The story
was that something happened with the crib, and Jeffrey's little body slid and he got suffocated. But if you look back, there was never a lawsuit with the crib company or anything."
Speaking to Rolling Stone, she says she was then shocked by a heartbreaking disclosure from her father and claims that prior to his death in 2023, Donald told her that he believed Jeffery
was killed by her 'violent' grandfather — Donald's dad — after he 'shook him in a rage.' The former SNL star recalled her father saying: "I always felt that he
was crying or something, and my dad shook him. He shook him in a rage and killed him." Sarah continued: "As soon as he said it, it was like: 'Of course, that’s what
happened,"'. Writing in her 2010 memoir, the actress says her parents both initially agreed on the story regarding Jeffery's death, saying he had suffocated. In her book, she
recounts that while Donald and Beth Ann, were on holiday, her brother, Jeffrey, was looked after by her grandparents, Max and Rose. Max later told his son that during that time, he had been
checking on the crying baby at night because Rose had difficulty hearing. The following morning, when Sarah's grandfather went to check on Jeffrey, he reportedly discovered the baby had
suffocated. In 2022, a year before Donald died, he attended a Manhattan performance of Sarah's memoir, which had been turned to a musical, seeing it five nights in a row. The show
contained a scene in which a young Sarah makes a joke about the death of her brother, to her grandmother, leaving the audience stunned. After the fifth show, Sarah says Donald went backstage
and told her 'what really happened' to Jeffrey, reportedly telling his daughter that his own father, her grandfather, was responsible. "[Donald’s] mother always stood by her
husband. She watched him beat the s*** out of her son. I couldn’t ask my mom, because she was dead," she said of Beth Ann, who had passed away in 2015. Donald died in 2023, shortly
after the death of Janice, his second wife of over 40 years. Taking to Instagram, sharing a photo of her father, Sarah wrote: "My best pal, Schleppy – my dad, died last night. "All
the sisters, and grandkids surrounded him with love and singing and very dark f***ed up jokes this final week. But ultimately, he wanted to be with his love, Janice, who we lost last
Monday. "He always said he was the richest man in the world because of his family, and he was." Silverman's new stand-up special, PostMortem, will be available to stream on
Netflix from Tuesday 20 May. Article continues below _LIKE THIS STORY? FOR MORE OF THE LATEST SHOWBIZ NEWS AND GOSSIP, FOLLOW MIRROR CELEBS ON __TIKTOK__, __SNAPCHAT__, __INSTAGRAM__,
