The 2024/25 Premier League is over - and what a final day it was. With the title having already been sealed by Liverpool and the relegation battle all rounded off, the attention was on the

Champions League places. Manchester City beat Fulham 2-0 to seal third spot in the table despite their dire campaign. Meanwhile, Chelsea overcame Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in a

winner-takes-all game. Newcastle just about squeezed into the competition despite their final day defeat to Everton. They only just finished fifth due to Villa's final day reverse at

the hands of Manchester United. There was major controversy at Old Trafford with Emi Martinez sent off, while Morgan Rogers was cruelly denied a goal. United then took full advantage to

round off a miserable campaign with a victory. But the day - and the season - belongs to Liverpool, who are set to lift the trophy on the final day of the campaign. 19:06Daniel Orme GOODBYE!

Well, that's it for the 2024/25 Premier League season - and all we've got to offer you! Thanks for joining us throughout the afternoon. Stay tuned to Mirror Football over the next

24 hours for even more reaction. 18:59Daniel Orme ALEXANDER-ARNOLD CRIES Trent Alexander-Arnold let his emotions get the better of him this afternoon. 18:57Daniel Orme VILLA SET TO MAKE

'OFFICIAL COMPLAINT' The fall-out from Villa's loss to Man United appears set to rumble on. According to The Athletic, the Midlands side plan to lodge an official complaint to

the Premier League. They fell as though a more experienced official 'should have been selected to officiate game of such magnitude'. 18:53Daniel Orme NUNO 'PROUD' OF

FOREST On the other side of things, Forest have missed out on a spot in the Champions League. But boss Nuno is still full of pride for his side. He said: "After a game like this and the

things that happened on the pitches, we didn't achieve the dream. Our first half was really good, we created many problems and had chances but it wasn't enough. The anxiety in the

last minutes didn't help us. "We are proud and we go again. You know that one goal can change everything. the improvement of the players is huge, the platform of the club is good.

If you ask me, it's a good season because of the commitment of the players." 18:49Daniel Orme CHELSEA HERO SPEAKS OUT Chelsea star Levi Colwill has spoken after scoring the goal

to carry his side into the Champions League. He said: "When I scored, I stayed calm because we still had more minutes to play but I stayed calm and helped the boys. "What I got

taught in the academy is you have to fight. We try to get these clean sheets to win and that's what we did today. "We had to win. We knew we had to win and that it wasn't

going to be a hard atmosphere but we did it. This club deserves to be in the Champions League." 18:44Daniel Orme MCGINN SLAMS VILLA ERROR Aston Villa star John McGinn has torn into the

error that has seen his side miss out on Champions League football. Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I think everyone wanted the correct decisions when the VAR was implemented. You watch

rugby, even if the referee has awarded a try and it's wrong, its overturned. It's so so hard to take especially when the impact it has on us, as a club and a team, is so big.

Its' really, really tough to take and handle. I don't think we deserved to win but if you were 1-0 up at that point and all you need is a point to get to the Champions League,

it's costly. "Moving forward, the rule has to be looked at as the correct decisions were not getting made at the end of the day. I think [referee] Thomas [Bramall] knew. It

probably wasn't fair on him at that moment either. The boys are gutted. But European football three years in a row, we need to hold onto that and see what next season brings."

18:43Daniel Orme LIVERPOOL SQUAD BREAK INTO YNWA This is a moment that fans will love. The Liverpool squad have put the Premier League trophy in the centre-circle and have broken into an

impromtu rendition of their club anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. 18:41Daniel Orme VAN DIJK GETS HIS MOMENT Virgil van Dijk has become the first-ever Dutch captain to lift

the Premier League title - and he's determined to celebrate. 18:36Daniel Orme GUARDIOLA CELEBRATES TITLE Pep Guardiola also has something to celebrate, with City having sealed a

Champions League spot. Speaking to Match of the Day, he said: "It's like a title, [because of] the obstacles. When you continue [a run of poor form] you finish 10th, 11th, 12th or

13th. This is the destiny of all the teams in the Premier League when they are in November, December or January and you cannot fight for the Premier League, like you have done for many

years. "People can say 'I don't want to fight again, just to qualify for the Europa League'. We continued playing good and we were there [in position to seal Champions

League qualification] and we did it. At the end we finished third, not miles away from Arsenal, but the distance to Liverpool is huge. We have to improve and hopefully we can do it."

18:30Daniel Orme LIVERPOOL FINALLY LIFT THE TROPHY Here's the shot we've all been waiting for... 18:27Daniel Orme SAINTS GO DOWN WITH A WHIMPER At the other end of the table,

Southampton have endured a woeful campaign. They become the first side in Premier League history to lose 30 league games, surpassing Derby's record of 29. Will Still certainly has a big

job on his hands over the coming months. 18:24Daniel Orme SALAH CELEBRATES SENSATIONAL SEASON Salah has certainly added to his trophy cabinet this season... 18:17Daniel Orme AMORIM SENDS

MESSAGE TO MAN UTD FANS Having secured a win on the final day of the season, Ruben Amorim has addressed fans with a speech on the pitch. He said: "Today, after this disaster season, the

good days are coming. If there is one club in the world that proved in the past that it can overcome any situation, any disaster, it's our club - Manchester United Football Club."

18:08Daniel Orme SALAH SECURES AWARD DOUBLE On the topic of Liverpool, what a final day it's been for Mo Salah. The Egyptian's goal today secures him the golden boot, as well as

the playmaker award for the amount of assists he has notched throughout the season. And notch to mention that new contract in his pocket. 18:06Daniel Orme VILLA SUFFER LAST DAY HEARTBREAK

This man's assessment is sure to be explosive... 18:03Daniel Orme LIVERPOOL SET TO CELEBRATE And while the story on the final day has been the Champions League places, the season surely

belongs to Liverpool who will lift the trophy within the next few moments. Stay tuned for all of the latest reaction from across the Premier League. 18:01KEY EVENT FULL-TIMES And the

whistle in Nottingham brings the 2024/25 Premier League season to an end and here are the scores from the final day: Bournemouth 2-0 Leicester Nottm Forest 0-1 Chelsea Man United 2-0 Aston

Villa Newcastle 0-1 Everton Wolves 1-1 Brentford Spurs 1-4 Brighton Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace Fulham 0-2 Man City Ipswich 1-3 West Ham Southampton 1-2 Arsenal And that all means that Man

City, Chelsea and Newcastle take the other Champions League places. Villa finish sixth, with Forest in seventh. Brighton sit eighth which COULD be enough for a Europa Conference League spot

if Chelsea win that competition. 17:57Daniel Orme PEEP PEEP! The final whistle goes in North London and Spurs finish 17th. It's been a horrendous season with 22 league defeats but they

have a major trophy and a Champions League place. Funny old game, hey? 17:53Daniel Orme GOAL BRIGHTON! The Spurs hangover really is causing chaos as Brighton go 4-1 up on what is turning

into an excellent day for them. Diego Gomez rounds off the season with a great effort. And they could have done enough for a spot back in Europe next season. We'll see over the next few

days... 17:51Daniel Orme GOAL MAN UTD! This afternoon is getting away from Villa now. Christian Eriksen has doubled United's lead at Old Trafford on his final appearance for the Red

Devils. As it stands, Newcastle are claiming the final Champions League spot. 17:49Daniel Orme GOALS! And the goals keep coming from across the Premier League. Martin Odegaard has restored

Arsenal's lead against Southampton with a standout effort from the egde of the penalty area. Across North London, Matt O'Riley has scored a second to make it 3-1 for Brighton

against Spurs. Antoine Semenyo also has a second against Leicester, while Mohammed Kudus has added to West Ham's lead against Ipswich. 17:45Daniel Orme GOAL LIVERPOOL! Finally,

Liverpool give themselves something to celebrate and it's that man Mo Salah with the goal. He equals the record for the most goals and assists in a single season in the process. Can he

get another to claim the record for himself? 17:44Daniel Orme VILLA FURY This might be the headline of the final day so far and it could end up costing Villa dear... 17:40KEY EVENT MAN UTD

GOAL! That's going to make Villa feel even worse as Amad scores the opener. As it stands, Villa drop down to sixth and it's Newcastle who are claiming the last Champions League

spot. 17:39Daniel Orme VILLA DENIED Oh, that is very cruel on Aston Villa. The Midlands side think they've taken the lead at Old Trafford through Morgan Rogers but the referee appears

to already have blown the whistle. That's controversial. 17:37Daniel Orme NEWCASTLE NEED A HERO How Newcastle could need a goal from this man... 17:36Daniel Orme GOALS! And the strikes

keep on coming. Erling Haaland has doubled City's lead from the penalty spot. Meanwhile, Munetsi has equalised for Wolves after latching onto Strand Larsen's ball. It's been a

thoroughly entertaining second half. What will the next 20 minutes bring? 17:34Daniel Orme GOAL! Bournemouth lead against relegated Leicester. Antoine Semenyo opens the scoring for the

Cherries as a short corner finds its way to the forward who prods home. 17:30Daniel Orme GOAL EVERTON! This could deal a hammer-blow to Newcastle's hopes of playing in the Champions

League next season. Newcastle have gone 1-0 down to Everton through Carlos Alcaraz. It drops them down to sixth, with Villa moving up to fifth. Emery's men are currently being held by

Man United having been reduced to ten men. 17:29Daniel Orme RED CARD GRAVENBERCH Well, Ryan Gravenberch has enjoyed a brilliant season but he's enduring a tricky afternoon. The

Liverpool midfielder has been shown a straight red card for a last man foul on Daichi Kamada. It's a good job they've got the league title sealed already.
