Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles

Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles

Play all audios:

Uncrewed underwater vehicles are complex systems designed to operate in underwater and subsea environments. They can navigate and predict the underwater environment and reach underwater

environments that are too extreme or harsh for humans to safely reach. These vehicles play a crucial role in ensuring the safe completion and operation of underwater constructions, and their

adherence to environmental considerations. This collection of articles from _Communications Engineering_, _Nature Communications_ and _Scientific Reports_ aims to explore uncrewed

underwater vehicles for efficient utilization of ocean resources as well as accomplishing tasks that are otherwise impossible for humans. The collection will focus on three perspectives:

experimental and numerical tools for underwater situation awareness and prediction, surface and underwater vehicles for monitoring the health and operation of underwater constructions, and

applications to assist humans in extreme subsea environments such as search and rescue. THIS COLLECTION SUPPORTS AND AMPLIFIES RESEARCH RELATED TO SDG 14: LIFE BELOW WATER.
