A quiet North Carolina city was rocked by a mass shooting at a high school house party overnight that left one person dead and 11 others wounded, according to cops. Cops were called to a
home near Hickory — about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte — at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday where they found 12 shooting victims, according to Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. One victim is
dead, and another is in critical condition, cops said. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released any information about suspects. Many of those attending the party were
local high school students, witnesses told WSOC. “As soon as I heard the shots, everybody started scattering off, ducking our heads, running off toward our cars, toward safety. And I called
my friend, and he said, ‘Call 911. I need help,'” one teenage party goer said. EXPLORE MORE Around 100 people were at the house party when at least one person started shooting,
investigators told WSOC. Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage from the area. Special agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of
Investigation are involved in the investigation, assisting local Hickory police and the sheriff’s office.
