Judge Judy is dropping the gavel — and the price — on her New York City penthouse. The longtime television personality and former family court judge has reduced the asking price of her
Manhattan penthouse by $1 million, bringing the current list to $8.5 million, according to Mansion Global. Located in Sutton Place, a quiet, high-end pocket of Midtown East, the two-level
apartment first hit the market in May 2024 for $9.5 million. The new price matches what Judge Judy Sheindlin paid for the home back in 2013, according to property records. In a statement
made last year, Sheindlin, now 82, explained the sale by saying she and her husband, fellow former judge Jerry Sheindlin, are looking “to simplify.” EXPLORE MORE The penthouse crowns a
15-story prewar co-op designed by Rosario Candela, the architect behind many of Manhattan’s most prestigious residential buildings along Park and Fifth avenues. Perched above the East River,
the residence is accessed via a semi-private elevator landing that opens into a sprawling upper floor with formal living and dining areas, a wood-paneled library and a wraparound terrace.
“Sutton Place has long been recognized as one of Manhattan’s toniest enclaves and an oasis from the chaos typically associated with city living. This sprawling penthouse embodies the
quintessence of the neighborhood,” said listing agents Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon of Compass in a joint statement. The apartment’s lower level, accessed by a curved staircase with its
original wrought-iron balustrade, contains all four bedrooms, including a corner primary suite with an ensuite bath. In total, the home has four full bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. “Its
timeless design bucks trends in favor of style, and this penthouse has style in spades,” Postilio told Mansion Global last year. The building offers a range of amenities, including a
full-time doorman, private deeded storage for each unit and a gym. Sheindlin, who hosted Judge Judy for 25 seasons, could not be reached for comment.
