LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A student at Los Alamitos has tested positive for coronavirus, the Los Alamitos Unified School District has announced. Parents within that student's cohort were

notified if their children were in contact with the one student who tested positive. If the families did not receive that notification, they were not near the student who was infected,

according to KTLA 5 reports. The school is not in jeopardy of closing as of this report. Currently, in the city of Los Alamitos, a total of 206 people have tested positive for coronavirus

since March. Nearby Seal Beach has a total of 282 confirmed cases since the pandemic began, according to the OC Health Care Agency. The district has established a coronavirus centric web

page that shows that one member of the 2,929 students within the high school has been confirmed to have coronavirus. A Hopkinson Elementary School staff member has also tested positive for

the virus, the district reported. "It is going to take a concerted effort to keep our students, staff and families safe," the district spokesperson wrote on their website. "In

addition to health and safety measures taken on our campus, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of hand-washing, physical distancing and face coverings to

limit the spread of the coronavirus. Also, if a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your child at home and notify your school. If

your child has any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, make sure they stay home and get tested if necessary." Students who are experiencing symptoms, or who have been exposed to

coronavirus are told to stay home in isolation.
