A Carteret man has been sentenced to serve 18 years in state prison for killing a 17-year-old near the Carteret library about three years ago. Jorge Borrero, 21, pleaded guilty on Nov. 22,
2013 to aggravated manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon for the fatal shooting of Malcolm Harvey, 17 on Feb. 16, 2011, according to a press release from the Middlesex County
Prosecutor's Office. Borrero was taken into custody on Feb. 26, 2011 in Brooklyn and has remained in custody since that time, according to the release. Borrero must serve 85 percent of
his sentence before being eligible for parole. Upon being released, he will have to serve five years of probation, according to the release.
