could catch a glimpse!

The royal mom and Prince William greeted fans for half an hour during their visit to the seaside town on Wednesday, causing their engagement to run over by about 15 minutes despite the

showers.

Although the couple popped open umbrellas when they arrived to Blackpool Tower – where they joined a roundtable briefing about the town’s recent history and the investment underway to

rejuvenate it – Kate declined using an umbrella during the crowd meet-and-greet to ensure that even those toward the back of the group would be able to see her.

very colorful wardrobe so her royal fans can easily spot her.

In the documentary The Queen at 90, the monarch’s daughter-in-law, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, said: “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say, ‘I saw the Queen.’ Don’t forget

that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the Queen’s hat as she went past.”

Kate, 37, has also adapted this trick, opting for a rainbow wardrobe.

rain, Kate – bundled up in a Sportmax green coat over a green printed shirt dress from Michael Kors and with her hair pulled back in a ponytail – was all smiles as she chatted with

well-wishers. She even got a special welcome: as she passed, a young child yelled, “Hello, Princess!”

for her little ones.

She was given some souvenir t-shirts for her kids – matching gifts given to the late Princess Diana when Prince William and Prince Harry were small boys, worn by the princes when Diana

visited Richard Branson’s Necker Island resort in the early 1990s.
