_Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines_, went on to earn more than $1 billion worldwide. Schwarzenegger made a brief appearance in a fourth film, _Terminator Salvation_, in 2009 when he was


governor of California. Laeta Kalorgridis (_Avatar_) and Patrick Lussier (_Drive Angry_) will write the screenplay for the movie, the fifth in the _Terminator_ franchise. Annapurna Pictures,


which was also behind _Zero Dark Thirty_, will produce.
