Since my election in 2016, I’ve witnessed just how much extraordinary potential we have and how resilient we are as a community. The local response to the coronavirus crisis has been
heart-warming: we have many local heroes to thank for keeping us safe, looking after the vulnerable, and contributing to the fight against Covid-19. The SNP Scottish Government has looked to
support our communities through Covid, for example providing £60,000 to Collydean Community Centre to support their work during the pandemic and extending free school meals through the
holidays for our children. Whilst in Westminster, Boris Johnson’s Tories have used Covid as political cover to push through the hardest of Brexits that is already causing untold damage to
Scotland’s economy. In 2014, a majority of people of Mid Fife and Glenrothes voted Yes for independence, but that support wasn’t quite matched across the country. Now, the whole of Scotland
is ready for change. For the first time, we’ve achieved the historic rise in support for independence – which is now at a consistent majority level, backed by consecutive polls putting Yes
in the lead. It’s testament to the hard work of our activists, local teams, and the strong, principled leadership of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. More than half of voters think favourably
of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who has been leading us safely through the pandemic. I’m proud that with the SNP in government, every household in Mid Fife and Glenrothes has benefited
from our policies since 2007.
