Jenni was born in Elgin and brought up in St Andrews, she returned to the north east to study accountancy at Aberdeen University and then qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Following this
she moved to Glasgow to work at BBC Scotland working in many different programme areas over 18 years including helping to establish BBC Alba. Jenni and her husband Les Wilson – a writer,
documentary maker and former STV political journalist – then moved to Islay. On Islay she volunteered for charities including the Islay Energy Trust where she played a key role in
establishing a community wind turbine on the island. She also had a part time job working in the Museum of Islay Life, latterly becoming the manager. Jenni was asked to chair the WW1
commemorations on Islay where in 2018 this included over 40 events involving all elements of the community. Following her election as the SNP constituency MSP for Argyll & Bute, Jenni
has had an extremely active parliamentary career contributing to three parliamentary committees and as a member of 15 cross party groups. She has lead the campaign to have the UK Government
remove VAT from defibrillators which achieved full cross party support. In March 2023 Jenni was appointed as the Scottish Government Minister for Public Health & Women’s Health by First
