In July, the Madras High Court had permitted private, unaided schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu to collect 40% of the annual fees for the academic year 2020-21 by August 31. The order came
as a huge relief for hundreds of private, unaided educational institutions in the state that were struggling to pay their monthly bills and teachers’ salaries. Apart from this, the court
also permitted the educational institutions to collect the fee arrears pertaining to the previous academic year (2019-20) by September 30.
