The government is planning a special immunisation program for the COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes available. As per _PTI reports_ of official sources, the Centre will procure the doses
directly and make it available for priority groups for free. Health Ministry officials said that the exisiting platforms and machinery under UIP will be enhanced to benefit COVID-19 vaccine
administration. The National Expert Committee on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 has analysed the existing networks and will be making a projection of additional requirements for the
COVID-19 vaccine. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said that the Centre estimates to receive and utilise 40-50 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine covering around 25 crore people by
July 2021, reported PTI.
