the right to self-defence by ruling that a person would be right in taking the law into his own hands if he witnessed his parents or relatives being assaulted, according to The Times of
India. The landmark ruling came after two people had been convicted by a trial court for assaulting some of their neighbours in the village. That judgement was upheld by the Rajasthan High
Court which sentenced them to two years’ imprisonment. However, the SC noted that the police failed to establish the reason behind the assault and why the two had numerous injuries on their
bodies. An SC bench of Justices Dipak Misra and Shiva Kirti Singh acquitted the duo.
