Neale HarveyKalgoorlie Miner The impressive domestic little athletics form of siblings Elena, Jaya and Charlie Scafidi translated to an utterly dominant showing at last weekend’s country
championships. Inspired by an opportunity to compete on their home track, the brilliant trio combined for a remarkable 21 medals across their combined 22 events. Elena Scafidi, the eldest of
the siblings who was competing in the girls’ Under 11 division, led Goldfields’ charge with a stunning haul of seven gold medals and a bronze. Her younger sister Jaya was the pick of the
Under 10 competitors in grabbing a total of eight medals – six gold, one silver and a bronze. Not to be outdone, their little brother Charlie also showed off unlimited long-term potential in
grabbing a gold medal – alongside two silvers and a pair of bronze medals. That level of dominance underlined a memorable weekend for the team representing the Eastern Goldfields Little
Athletics Association. All up, the carnival hosts amassed a whopping 271 medals – the girls’ line-up leading the way with 53 gold, 45 silver and 51 bronze. GET THE LATEST NEWS FROM
