A pair of small brush fires broke out Monday in the Chula Vista area, and investigators were working to determine the cause and whether there was any connection between the fires. The first
fire was reported at 5:07 a.m. near Beyer Way and Fourth Avenue. Chula Vista Fire Department Capt. Josh Sanders said the brush fire was slow-moving and crews were able to knock it down by
6:30 a.m. Sanders said another fire started at 7 a.m. several blocks away near a riverbed, and a crew knocked it down 20 minutes later. It was unclear how much land was burned. _City News
