A suspect in the New Year’s Day stabbing death of a man in Logan Heights was in custody in San Diego Wednesday following his arrest in Fairfield. Guillermo Lopez-Perez, 22, was arrested
Tuesday morning by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the death of Rodrigo Diaz-Perez, according to the San Diego Police Department. At about 3:45 p.m. Jan. 1, police
received reports of a group of men fighting — at least one with a knife — at 29th Street and Clay Avenue. Diaz- Perez, 27, was found lying in the street, unresponsive with stab wounds to his
body. He was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. Police identified Lopez-Perez as the suspect, and he was arrested Tuesday by Solano County deputies and brought back to San
Diego. He was booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail. Lopez-Perez is tentatively set to be arraigned on Thursday. –City News Service
