A 24-year-old driver was killed when he lost control of his SUV and collided with a parked vehicle in the Mount Hope neighborhood, damaging three additional parked vehicles, officials said
Monday. The accident occurred at around 10:50 p.m. Sunday when the driver behind the wheel of a Mazda CX5 plowed at a high rate of speed into a parked 1995 Jeep Wrangler along the east curb
line at 400 42nd St., according to the San Diego Police Department. Police officials said the driver was ejected from his SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately
available. It was unclear what prompted the crash, but it was reported that the driver “left his residence after breaking glass items,” police said. The crash was under investigation.
Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call the SDPD or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
