season. Those travelling abroad will spend an average £457 each on holidays, while those taking a trip within the UK will spend £255 each, new research from American Express reveals. A
quarter of travellers plan to visit family and friends abroad while 22% wanting experience Christmas in a different place and 17% admit they feel the need to escape the frantic festive
period. The findings come from a poll of more than 2,000 people American Express director Jenny Cheung said: "Many Brits are choosing to make the most of their time over Christmas
by celebrating further afield, whether that's heading to an exotic destination or enjoying another part of the UK. "Whether it's buying hotel rooms, rail tickets or flights,
remember you can make your money work harder by putting spend on a credit card that offers cashback or rewards.”
