Dr. Isaac Deaguero assumed the role of Acting Associate Director for Outlying Sites at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in April 2024. In September of 2024, Dr. Isaac Deaguero joined the
Atlanta VA Healthcare System as the interim associate director of outlying sites. Previously, Dr. Deaguero served as the Chief of Healthcare Technology Management for Atlanta, as well as the
Chief Biomedical Engineer for the Western Colorado Healthcare System, located in Grand Junction, Colorado. In pursuit of lifelong learning, Dr. Deaguero earned both his Bachelor of Science
in Biology, as well as his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is currently pursing a Masters in Business Administration. Dr. Deaguero is a proud
Veteran of the United States Navy, where he served onboard multiple submarines as an Fire Control Technician from 2003-2008. He is a graduate of the Center for Naval Leadership, as well as
the VA Leadership Development Institute Dr. Deaguero has been published is various high-impact research journals including Nature, Molecules, Pharmaceutics, and Materials for his work in
biomedical prosthetics, implants, biomarkers, formulation, and lipid-based pharmaceutical nanotechnology.
