Raenita Mears MSN RN ACNS-BC is the acting Associate Director for Patient Care Services-Nurse Executive and current Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services -Nurse Executive. In
her current capacity she is responsible for the oversight of over 1300 staff which serve 45,000 Veterans annually. Ms. Mears started her career with the VA in 2006 as a staff nurse in the
Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Richard L Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis Indiana. She also served as GI Nurse Manager and for six years as the Medical ICU Nurse Manager
before taking a position in Amarillo Texas as the Chief Nurse – Acute Care Services. Ms. Mears has previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Executive as well as
supervisory experience in GI, IR, Radiation Oncology, Vascular Access, Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical and Intensive Care. Ms. Mears also has collegiate teaching experience at Indiana
University, Marion University and Western Governors University. Ms. Mears has been a both a national and local speaker on Leadership and Evidence Based Practice as well as Co-author of
Impact of a Quarterly Report Card on Colonoscopy Quality Measures. She is a Leadership Development Institute and a Health Care Leadership Development graduate. She has served on several
national and VISN committees. Ms. Mears honors include: Directors Coin 2019, Patriot Award 2015, Employee of the Year GI Services 2010 and Critical Care Nurse of year 2009. Ms. Mears
completed her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis Indiana and earned a Master’s degree as an APRN - Clinical Nurse Specialist from Indiana University. She is Board
Certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health. Ms. Mears is a member of the American Nurses Association, Texas State Nursing Association, Indiana Nursing Association, National
Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and National Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is also a mentor for American Nurses Association
