Winfield Danielson is the public affairs officer for the VA Boston Healthcare System. Before coming to the VA Boston HCS in 2021, Danielson was the public affairs officer for the VA
Providence Healthcare System. He is a marketing communications professional with more than 20 years’ experience in the field. He has held other positions ranging from marketing and
e-commerce manager for Dish Network, where he ran national marketing programs, to marketing and public relations manager for the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk, Va. Danielson is a retired
lieutenant colonel from the National Guard, with nearly 30 years’ experience, five of which as the full-time state public affairs officer for the Massachusetts National Guard. Commissioned
infantry in 1990, he held various military positions, including infantry platoon leader, service detachment commander, headquarters company commander, joint public affairs officer, brigade
operations officer, and commander of the 65th Public Affairs Operations Center. He also served two tours in Iraq, one as the senior press desk officer for the Multinational Force - Iraq
under Gen. David Petraeus. Holding a master’s degree in Marketing Communications from the University of Colorado, Danielson is a graduate of the Defense Information School at Fort Meade,
Md., where he has also served on the adjunct faculty. Born in Manchester, Conn., in 1968, Danielson received a bachelor’s degree in English and History from the University of Connecticut. He
is married to U.S. Navy veteran Dr. Roxanne Danielson, and they have two children, four cats, a parrot and a variable number of tropical fish.
