DR. EDWARD TRUDO is an Ophthalmologist and the Assistant Chief of Surgery at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. MEDICAL SCHOOL: University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
RESIDENCY: Ophthalmology - Walter Reed Army Medical Center; Washington, DC FELLOWSHIP: Cornea Transplant and Refractive Eye Surgery - Wilmer Eye Institute - Johns Hopkins University,
Baltimore, MD BOARD CERTIFICATION: Ophthalmology My main clinical service to veterans is evaluation and treatment of cornea disorders of the eye: Scarring due to trauma or infection,
irregularly shaped cornea (keratoconus, post-LASER cornea surgery in the military). As a West Point graduate commissioned as a combat engineer, I bring a unique perspective of how ocular and
vision issues of the cornea impact both the active duty service member and the veteran in their future capacity and lifestyle. I add significant leadership from academic, private practice,
and serving as faculty at both Walter Reed and Johns Hopkins. I perform observational clinical research, which implies that unique patients or collective observations of groups of similar
patients can be informed about options for further testing and subsequent study. In my free time, I enjoy the surrounding beaches, golfing, and the wonderful and historic Charleston
community and restaurants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
