Michael Sheehan is an advanced practice provider in the Cardiothoracic Transplant and Circulatory Support team at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. He provides support and works alongside
Dr. Gabriel Loor and Dr. Alexis Shafii at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center’s heart transplant and LVAD program. He graduated from William Carey College on the coast of Mississippi
with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing in 1997. He then proceeded to receive his master’s of science degree in nursing from Duquesne University in 2007. Sheehan was then enrolled in
a Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Chatham University in 2010. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse First Assist since 2007, was a
Certified Urology Nurse Practitioner (CUNP), is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC-Csp) - a partner of Filger Sheehan & Sheehan focusing on patient advocacy and a CT surgery
consultant for Discovery NP Legal Consultants, and has a certificate in tactical emergency casualty care. He is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, an allied member of the American
Urological Association, and a member of the AUA Advanced Practice Provider education committee/speaker’s bureau. Michael has a broad base of perioperative and outpatient experience as well
as experience teaching, speaking and publishing. His philosophy of practice is simple; to cure rarely, to treat often, and to care always.
