Dozens of Veterans and their families have a better understanding of expanded benefits available to them after attending the VA’s toxic exposure screening and benefits event Wednesday,
February 22 at Stout Field in Indianapolis. Representatives from Veteran Benefits Administration, Indianapolis VA Medical Center, Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, and National
Cemetery Administration helped Veterans to either apply or receive more information on their benefits. Marine Corps Veteran Marvin Verhey was screened for toxic exposure while serving in
Vietnam. “Agent Orange affected my vision. I’m here today to get screened for breathing issues that have developed over time,” Verhey added. PACT Act, a new law passed in 2022, expands
benefits to Veterans with dozens of cancers and respiratory illnesses they might have developed while serving in areas where open burn pits and other toxins were present. To learn more about
