Ms. LaShá Baylis was appointed Assistant Director | Deputy Chief Operating Officer for G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center on March 27, 2022. Before becoming Assistant Director and
Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Baylis served as the Chief of Community Care for G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC. She began her federal career with the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC as an
Administrative Trainee in 2007. In 2010, Ms. Baylis was selected to participate in the Health System Management (HSM) Training Program at the Orlando VA Medical Center. Upon completion, she
was selected as Administrative Officer in Geriatrics and Extended Care. In 2011, she returned to Jackson, Mississippi, as the Executive Assistant (EA) to the Associate Director for Patient
Care Services (ADPCS). Immediately after, she served our Veterans as an Operations Manager with the Consolidated Fee Unit. When she met her career goals, she realized her passion was working
in the hospital. This led to her experience working as the Community Based-Outpatient Clinic Coordinator, EA to the Associate Director, and most recently, Chief of Community Care. Ms.
Baylis received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Jackson State University and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the American College of Healthcare Executives, and
the Junior League of Jackson. She also serves on the Executive Board for Mississippi Healthcare Executives. The Assistant Director at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC reports to the Medical
Center Director and has responsibility for Environmental Management Service, Nutrition and Food Service, Center for Development and Civic Engagement, and Police Service. The Assistant
Director will also serve as the Executive Champion for Medical Center Strategic Planning and is the facility liaison for the Veterans Canteen Service.
