blind rehabilitation services to help you live independently. These may include vision-enhancing devices and technology as well as visual skills and related training. The Vision

Rehabilitation Clinic provides low vision services to Veterans and active duty service members who have a visual impairment, legal blindness, or a functional vision difficulty. This may be

caused by a stroke or traumatic brain injury or a disease like macular degeneration, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy to name a few. These can all cause low vision, which is a loss of

eyesight that can make everyday tasks difficult. A person with low vision may find it hard to read, write, watch TV, shop, recognize faces or cross a street. Vision rehabilitation can help

these patients compensate for their vision loss. This may be done through optical aids such as magnifiers, telescopes or electronic devices. Non-optical aids such as large print books,

writing guides, talking watches and bold tipped markers may also help.  The clinic provides a full range of high quality services by a team of professionals: * Low Vision Optometrist that

specializes in low vision eye exams and the prescription of optical and electronic devices. * Certified Low Vision Therapist that teaches Veterans to use their vision better with and without

devices and how to perform everyday tasks safely and efficiently. Referrals for further training and assistance may be made to: * Bind Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialist (BROS) that

provides services within the home. This can include setup of devices and instruction in traveling safely and independently. * Visual Impairment Services Team Coordinator (VIST) that serves

as a case manager for legally blind veterans. To receive services, the Veteran or active duty service member must be eligible for VA healthcare and have one of the following: visual
