Joseph P. Vaughn began his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 2005. Mr. Vaughn was appointed as Executive Director of the Memphis VA Health Care System on January 30,
2022. Mr. Vaughn has overall responsibility for the medical, administrative, and support operations of a 1A tertiary care facility delivering medical care, treatment, and services within a
220-bed inpatient facility and nine Community Based Outpatient Clinics covering 53 counties in West Tennessee, Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi. Previous leadership appointments
within VA include Executive Director of the Salisbury VA Health Care System (Salisbury, NC), Associate Director of the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center (Jackson, MS), and Chief
Logistics Officer for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 16. During his service in the United States Navy from 1983-1993, Mr. Vaughn completed four Mediterranean deployments and was
awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and National Defense medal. Mr. Vaughn is a native of Durant, Mississippi and received his Master of Business Administration
degree from Mississippi State University. He is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute and a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.
