GREAT LAKES ADVANCED EDUCATION IN GENERAL DENTISTRY (AEGD) RESIDENCY The Great Lakes Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency is a hospital-based program that has been
serving Veterans and training residents since 1976. Housed in the Historic Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center and in the modern Milo C. Huempfner VA Community Outpatient Clinic, the
Great Lakes AEGD received its most recent accreditation on Aug. 1, 2019, by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and was granted the accreditation status of “Approval Without Reporting
Requirements.” The Great Lakes AEGD Residency is a 52-week post-doctorate dental education program designed to facilitate the professional growth of the recent dental graduate. It is
intended to mentor competency, proficiency, and confidence in various dental specialties, manage medically compromised dental patients, and help the resident function effectively in
hospital-based group practice. The patient base associated at both sites is SECOND TO NONE. Both facilities provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for our veterans. This
vast patient population serves as a tremendous resource for dental patients requiring every dental specialty. As with all Veterans Affairs-sponsored programs, patients incur NO COST for
comprehensive treatment. Thanks to our Veterans Service, our program can deliver comprehensive general practice training that places an emphasis on treatment planning, preventative
medicine, and restorative-driven dental therapies. Residents will gain exposure beyond general dentistry to include: * Periodontal Surgeries * Advanced Endodontics * Advanced Fixed and
Removable Prosthodontics (including digital workflow, implant placement, and restoration) * Advanced Oral Surgery (including full arch edentulation, alveoloplasty, flap design, socket
preservation, and advanced suturing techniques) * Oral Pathology * Management of medically compromised patients FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: Richard Kaplan, DMD Director, Advanced Education
