Francisco Hurtado, RN, is the Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive at the Montana VA. He has been serving as the ADPCS since December 15, 2024. Prior to working for
the Montana VA Healthcare System, Mr. Hurtado held several strategic positions including, Interim Medical Center Director for the AK VA Health Care System, prior to that was the Associate
Director Patient Care Service AK VA Health Care System, his experience includes, Chief Nurse Primary Care Services, Chief Nurse Acute Care, Chief Nurse Inpatient Mental Health and Emergency
Department, Chief Nurse Mental Health and DoD Joint Venture, Acting Chief of Quality Management at the VA Northern California Health Care System (VA NCHCS), in addition to multiple previous
Nurse Manager positions making him a well-rounded leader. He has over 25, consecutive years with the Department of Veteran Affairs and over 28 years total of progressive leadership
experience while working in various organizational environments, including the private sector. Mr. Hurtado has over 29 years of military experience with three, one-year active-duty overseas
assignments; Germany 2004-2005, Operating Room Nurse, Iraq 2008-2009, Chief Nurse of Detainee Operations. Kuwait 2022 (Jan – Dec) Chief of Clinical Operations, two of the tours he held
positions where he was responsible for international medical collaboration. Currently he continues to serve as a Field Grade Officer, Rank of Colonel in the United Stated Army Reserve. Mr.
Hurtado has a reputation for excellence in group facilitation, strategic planning, and innovation in the delivery of health care. He has a deep interest in process improvement, and a passion
for creating a culture of learning.
