🎉Honoring a True Hero: Mr. Atwell's WWII Service and 100th Birthday! 🎉 Today, we're not only honoring Mr. Atwell's remarkable service but also celebrating a very special
milestone: his 100th birthday last week! What an incredible life of courage and dedication. 🎂 Mr. Atwell served as an Infantryman in Company L of the 157th Infantry Regiment from February
16, 1944, to December 12, 1945. His bravery was put to the ultimate test when he was shot in the leg by German forces just a day before his unit faced the brutal Battle of the Bulge in
Western Germany. Tragically, nearly his entire unit was lost in that battle. Despite his severe injuries, Mr. Atwell continued to serve with distinction. He separated from the Army on
Christmas as a Private First Class, having earned numerous accolades for his courageous service. His medals include two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, testaments to his sacrifice and
valor. 🎖️ Recently, Mr. Atwell received a heartfelt letter and coin from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, a fitting recognition of his profound contributions to our nation's freedom.
Thank you for your service, Mr. Atwell, and happy belated 100th birthday! Your story is an inspiration to us all. #US #WWII #Veteran #Hero #PurpleHeart #BronzeStar #ServiceAndSacrifice
