A beacon of mobile justice for those who have served, the blue and white Ohio Justice Bus arrived at the Carl Nunziato VA Clinic on April 22, promising more than just legal aid. The
collaboration between the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System's Veterans Justice Program (VJP) and the Ohio Justice Bus, facilitated by Community Legal Aid, demonstrated the power of
partnerships. By addressing financial, geographical, and technological barriers, Veterans sat with attorneys and legal aid specialists to complete the expungement process while VJP conducted
an advance directives clinic. "I'm a recovering addict," said Antwan Mack, a Veteran utilizing its services. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to repair my
past." Mack's story was one of many with each Veteran seeking clarity, closure or a chance to move forward. Sitting with Veteran Justice Outreach Specialist Lynn Repko, Felicia
Harris emphasized how the Ohio Justice Bus offered more than just legal advice; it provided crucial assistance with essential life planning. "As you get older, your health conditions
change," Harris said. "It's important to ensure your power of attorney is current. I’m really glad I came. " Veteran Justice Program Supervisor Patricia Cannon; Veteran
Justice Outreach Specialists Lynn Repko and Kelsey Rubeis; and Peer Support Specialist Gregory Hammond joined staff from the Youngstown VA to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
"One aspect of our job at Community Legal Aid is to connect with Veterans through outreach events like this," attorney John Rosczyk said. "We're proud to partner with the
Justice Bus to assist veterans in underserved communities." With every signature, handshake, and word of advice, the Ohio Justice Bus underscored that justice can be mobile, personal
and deeply impactful. The Veterans Justice Program encourages interested Veterans to follow events through the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System Facebook page.
