It has been said that without employees an organization cannot survive and prosper. At the VA Sheridan Healthcare System we employ more than 200 RNs, LPNs, and nursing assistants, and have a
need to hire more nursing staff as the demand for Veteran healthcare services has increased. To help us retain and attract quality staff we have instituted pay increases for our nursing
staff, added an additional paid holiday and also expanded our child care subsidy program. Andrea Henderson, Nurse Executive at Sheridan VA Health Care System recently stated, “Leadership
values our nursing employees and their dedication to Veteran care and we are pleased to provide pay increases to the nursing staff across our facility.” The base hourly rates have increased
to between $33.15-61.31 per hour for RNs, $18.38-33.45 per hour for LPNs, and $15.41-25.16 per hour for nursing assistants. For staff who work weekends, holidays, evenings and nights, shift
differentials apply in addition to the base rates. In 2021, an additional paid holiday, Juneteenth National Independence Day was made a federal holiday bringing the total to 50 paid days
off per year, including sick leave, annual leave and holidays. VA has also expanded its child care subsidy program to families having a total family income of up to $144,000. For those
students in nursing career paths still in school, the facility has instituted a Health Professions Scholarship Program. The scholarship program will cover tuition, fees, and provide a
monthly living stipend to students pursuing a degree or certificate in Nursing (CNA, LPN, RN). After graduating you will receive additional training in order to enhance your skills as a
nurse within the VA. In return, HPSP participants will sign a service agreement to work for the VA for at least two years after graduation, and be employed at the VA Sheridan Healthcare
System. For more information on the Health Professions Scholarship Program or to submit your resume for employment contact our Nurse Recruiter at [email protected] or visit the VA
Sheridan careers page.
