Dr. Cassandra Valdez was appointed as Associate Director of Patient Care Services for the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in November 2022. Prior to her appointment at the SAVAHCS,
Dr. Valdez served as the Chief Nurse for Ambulatory Care at the Raymond G. Murphy Medical Center in Albuquerque New Mexico. In that role, she was accountable for nursing services staff
within primary care, Women’s Health, Geri-PACT, Academic PACT, homeless PACT, CARA pain team, employee health and the VA Community Clinics in New Mexico and Durango, Colorado. She has 31
years of Nurse Executive Leadership in both VA and private health care sectors. Her professional practice expertise is in emergency services; critical care; patient flow office; skilled
nursing; rehabilitation; long term care, behavioral health, primary care, rural health, and public health. Dr. Valdez has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master's Degree in Health
Administration and a and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
