PRESS RELEASE May 9, 2024 Syracuse , NY — Michael DelDuca, Associate Medical Center Director has begun a four-month detail under the Senior Executive Services Candidate Development Program


(SESCDP) to the Assistant Under Secretary for Health for Integrated Veteran Care with oversight of the congressional office team effective May 6, 2024. Mr. DelDuca is one of just eight


candidates selected to attend SESCDP this year. The competitive program offers candidates a substantive developmental experience designed to equip them with the necessary skills to


accomplish Federal Government missions as a senior executive. SESCDP strives to supply talent to the SES Corps, ensuring a diverse, dynamic group of career executives ready to step into


executive positions and address evolving mission-related challenges. In Mr. DelDuca’s absence, Ms. Ginger Mitchell has assumed the role of acting Associate Medical Center Director. Having


previously served as the Medical Center’s Assistant Director since Oct. 2023, Ms. Mitchell brings with her over 25 years of experience at the Syracuse VAMC. Effective May 10, 2024, Ms. Sarah


Barnes will be filling in as acting Medical Center Assistant Director. Mrs. Barnes, a U.S. Army Veteran, has been the Chief of Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) at the Syracuse VAMC since


Dec. 2015. In addition to her role as the Chief of NFS, Sarah currently serves as the Nutrition Community of Practice Vice Lead for Veterans Integrated Service Network 02 and holds
