Nina Thomas began her appointment at James A. Haley in 2005 as Chief, Health Information Management. Prior to her employment with the VA, she held positions in non-traditional HIM settings,
including Director of HIM and Privacy at LifePath Hospice and Quality Improvement Manager for United Healthcare. She has had an extensive career focused on health information services and
quality improvement, including serving as an Adjunct Instructor and Advisory Board member of Hillsborough Community and St. Petersburg College. She currently serves on the Health Information
and Informatics Advisory Board for Florida A&M University and VISN 8 HIM Chiefs Council. Ms. Thomas has a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from Florida A&M
University and a Master’s in Business Administration and Healthcare from Ashford University.
